Synopsis
Magic Rises is the sixth Kate Daniels novel. Kate and Beast Lord Curran face a grim reality within the Pack: shapeshifter children often fail to survive the transition to adulthood without a rare medicine that keeps their animal side from overwhelming them, and the supply is tightly controlled by the European shapeshifter packs. To secure the treatment before more Pack children are lost, Kate and Curran accept an invitation to a dangerous arbitration overseas, traveling abroad with a small group that includes a pregnant werewolf they must protect throughout the journey. Aware that the offer may well be a trap laid by rivals eager to see the Beast Lord weakened or discredited on foreign soil, Kate and Curran must navigate treacherous shapeshifter politics far from home while safeguarding the vulnerable members of their own delegation, and drawing the attention of the dangerous mercenary Hugh d'Ambray along the way.
