Synopsis
The story takes place during carnival in Spichrz, a city in the Lands of the Inner Sea. The outlaw Twardokęsek, who only wants some rest, is captured together with a jasmine witch, and the local prince intends to have him executed. While the prisoners wait, discontent in the city grows into a violent popular uprising. At the same time a wish spoken in the tower of the Dreaming One sets an old prophecy in motion, drawing in the bandit, the witch and the people who rule the city. The novel is the second part of the saga and continues the picaresque story of a reluctant hero whose small ambitions collide with the plans of princes, priests and gods as rebellion spreads through the land.
