Synopsis

Narcissus in Chains is the tenth novel in Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series. Anita contracts multiple strains of lycanthropy in the course of her supernatural work, leaving her to grapple with an unfamiliar and unpredictable new hunger that begins to reshape both her body and her sense of self. As she struggles to understand and manage this development, she grows closer to the were-leopard Micah, whose steady presence draws her into a new kind of intimacy even as she works to formally end her strained relationship with Richard. The emerging hunger, later understood as the ardeur, forces Anita into closer contact with her circle of allies than ever before, drawing her deeper into the overlapping demands of St. Louis's vampire and shapeshifter communities as she tries to keep the new power from overwhelming her.

  • From the series record (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter): The long-running main sequence, mixing full novels and a few shorter novellas, following vampire hunter and necromancer Anita Blake; still active as of the latest update.
