- From the series record (The Book of the Long Sun): Set in the same universe (catalogued together with New Sun and Short Sun as the 'Solar Cycle') but follows a different protagonist, Patera Silk, in a generation ship's enclosed world, standing independently of Severian's story. Registered as Expanded rather than folded into Core: same shared universe, but a separate storyline with no shared protagonist -- Short Sun (below) is what draws the explicit connective line back to Severian.
