Synopsis

The fourth and last novel returns to the origins of the Lands of Corza, in a primitive and violent age with pre-Roman echoes, when the clans of the region of Unar try to concentrate their strength in a First King while rude peoples live as neighbours to fast-rising cities. A band of friends from the edge of the Unar marshes finds itself carrying a destiny of victories and lasting glory; after a long campaign of hard trials one of them, Teldius, is crowned and begins a long phase of conquest. But the enemies are many and various, and in the South the cities prove prosperous, advanced and peopled by superior adversaries. Betrayals change the path of the Warriors of Unar, and among men driven by the ferocity of their leaders, Corza rises until his enemies fear his name, in an odyssey that reaches the distant kingdoms and their intrigues.

Notes

  • From the series record (Terras de Corza): Madalena Santos's Portuguese saga of the Lands of Corza, a fictional set of twelve kingdoms modelled on central and southern Europe, told in four independent novels set in four eras, from the Middle Ages to industrialisation and back to pre-Roman origins, without magic or imaginary races: a geopolitical epic of travel and intrigue.
