Overview

Madalena Santos's saga (2006-2010), begun when she was fifteen, is set in the Lands of Corza, a fictional set of twelve kingdoms drawn in the image of central and southern Europe. Its four novels are independent stories in four eras of the same world: O Décimo Terceiro Poder in a medieval age, as the king's adopted daughter Neferlöen fights a usurper's mercenaries; A Coroa de Sangue at the end of absolutism, as an exiled nobleman starts a civil war to expose a regicide; As Tribos do Sul in the age of industrialisation, as Corza's explorers collide with the tribes of the South; and Os Doze Reinos among the pre-Roman origins of the kingdoms and their First King. Epic fantasy of an unusual kind, without magic or imaginary races: a geopolitical fiction of travel and intrigue in a wholly invented world. Published in Portuguese only.
