Overview
Tanith Lee's young-adult trilogy (2004-2007) is set in a parallel 1800s in which 'Free' England is a republic and the capital is Lundon. Artemesia Fitz-Willoughby Weatherhouse, who recovers her memory after a knock on the head at boarding school, believes her late mother was the pirate queen Piratica, tracks down her mother's old crew, and refuses to accept that Molly's piracy was all a stage act: she makes herself the real thing, with a theatrical crew, a famous parrot and a very real rival pirate. Piratica II sends Art privateering against the French toward this world's Trafalgar; Piratica III, the last, returns her to the Treasured Isle and the secrets of her own family. A separate world from Lee's Flat Earth, Vis and Birthgrave books.
