Synopsis

Married and ashore in a cliff-top mansion, Art Blastside, the pirate queen the ballads call Piratica, finds respectable life too tame for her spirit. When the government of Free England, at war with France, offers her a privateer's commission and her old ship, she gathers her theatrical crew again and takes to the seas to prey on French shipping, learning along the way the price of the freedom she has bought. Her enemy Little Goldie Girl is back with a vengeance, strange new faces appear, and a mysterious widow out of sailors' legend begins to haunt the waters she sails. Ghost ships, camouflaged ships, a masked avenger called the Purple Foxglove and the great sea battle of Trey Falco, this world's Trafalgar, all lie on the course back toward Parrot Island and the treasure Art left behind.
