Synopsis
Piers is a blacksmith's son who dreams of the glamour of French courtly life. He turns his back on his father's trade, renames himself Pierre and becomes the page of a passing knight. When that knight proves a disappointment, Piers reluctantly agrees to teach manners to Parsifal, an uncouth, immensely strong country boy who is determined to become the greatest knight at King Arthur's Round Table. Together they head for Camelot and a string of adventures, while Piers has to weigh his hunger for status against his sense of honour. The novel retells the Parsifal and Holy Grail legends from the point of view of the young page.
