Synopsis
Ravenheart continues the Rigante series more than eight hundred years after Connavar's defeat of the Stone armies, in an era when the Rigante have fallen from their former standing as Varlish rule steadily erodes their culture and independence. Kaelin Ring, a young Rigante clansman who has grown up under Varlish authority, comes to hate the occupation that has diminished his people, and eventually flees north to lands where older Rigante traditions still survive. There he emerges as a rebel leader known as Ravenheart, becoming a feared figure among Varlish forces in the north. Jiam Grymarch, once Kaelin's guardian, moves uneasily between Varlish and Rigante society while holding to the old clan values. When someone close to Grymarch is threatened, he is drawn into action that tests his loyalties and may help rekindle a spirit among the Rigante that centuries of oppression have nearly extinguished.
