Synopsis

At the end of the school year, Kendra and Seth find themselves racing back to Fablehaven, the refuge for mythical and magical creatures where their grandfather is caretaker. The Society of the Evening Star, an ancient organisation determined to infiltrate the preserve and steal a hidden artefact of great power, is storming the gates, and when the Society gets inside, it becomes clear that someone within Fablehaven is a traitor. The children's grandparents call in help, a trio of specialists in the magical world whose loyalties are not all they seem, while Kendra, changed by what happened to her at the end of the first summer, discovers what the fairies did to her. The hunt for the artefact hidden somewhere on the preserve, one of five keys to a great demon prison, draws the Sorenson family into the wider, secret war of the magical world.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
