Synopsis
Strange things are afoot at Fablehaven. Someone or something has released a plague that transforms beings of light into creatures of darkness, and Seth, who discovers the problem in its infancy, watches it spread until it is plain the preserve cannot hold out for long. In dire need of help, the Sorensons must decide where to turn. Kendra, meanwhile, travels with the Knights of the Dawn to another refuge, the Lost Mesa in Arizona, to locate an artefact of incredible strength before the Society of the Evening Star can recover it, while Seth, left behind, faces another attack on Fablehaven itself. The third book deepens the series' mythology, with a journal from the preserve's legendary past caretaker Patton Burgess, the revelation of what the plague is and where it came from, and a glimpse of the war of light and darkness that the preserves were built to contain.
