Synopsis
On the continent of Ulldart, a dying monk prophesies that a new Dark Time of suffering and destruction is coming, a warning that hangs over the opening of the series. The spoiled young Prince Lodrik is sent, incognito, to the province of Granburg to serve as its new governor and learn what it truly means to rule, accompanied only by his tutor Stoiko and his bodyguard Waljakov. Stripped of the comforts and privileges of court life, Lodrik must confront the corruption, poverty, and political scheming that plague the province he has been sent to govern, all while unaware of how closely his own fate is tied to the prophecy of encroaching darkness. His journey from a pampered heir to a ruler capable of facing real hardship begins here, as he starts to earn the trust, and the enmity, of the people around him.
