Synopsis
Alfred, a Sartan who has spent years searching among the four worlds, finally locates a surviving community of his people on Chelestra, an artificial water world enclosed within a shell around a sun of ice. His arrival forces him into an uneasy alliance with Haplo, the Patryn agent who has accompanied him from Abarrach, even as the ancient enmity between their two peoples threatens to resurface. Together they must navigate a fragile peace among the water world's human, elven, and dwarven inhabitants, whose societies are already strained by the environment's demands, while an ancient and powerful threat native to Chelestra looms over all of them, transcending the long-standing rivalry between Sartan and Patryn and forcing former enemies to consider working together.
