Synopsis
Continuing directly from the previous novel, this book follows Lady Cassidy as she works to rebuild Dena Nehele after cleansing it of the tyranny that once ruled it. The long-suffering Shalador people finally see a chance at a genuine home, but Cassidy must still prove herself capable of leading a land scarred by years of abuse and mistrust. She also has to learn to master an inner power that could turn destructive if she cannot keep it under control. Meanwhile, the land's Black Widows foresee unsettling visions warning that something significant is approaching, one that will reshape both the territory and Cassidy herself. The novel follows her efforts to govern with integrity while confronting both the external dangers and the personal struggles left in the wake of Dena Nehele's recovery.
