Synopsis
Shards of a Broken Crown closes the Serpentwar Saga in the aftermath of the invaders' defeated leadership, with the Kingdom left to reckon with the devastation of the preceding war. An enemy general named Duko offers to hold occupied Krondor for the Kingdom rather than for his former masters, while the brothers Jimmy and Dash are sent into the city to gather intelligence on the situation on the ground. At the same time, the Empire of Great Kesh threatens Krondor from the south and the Eastern Armies begin their long march home, stretching the Kingdom's resources further still. Most alarming of all, reports surface of the dead rising to fight against Kingdom forces, forcing the magicians Pug, Tomas, Nakor and Miranda to investigate a threat that goes beyond ordinary warfare even as Duke Arutha and Prince Patrick work to reclaim and stabilize the shattered principality.
