Synopsis
Spirit Bound, the fifth Vampire Academy novel, opens with Rose Hathaway back at St. Vladimir's Academy after her journey to Siberia, working through her final guardian trials while trying to earn assignment as Lissa Dragomir's official protector. She is still reeling from the failure of her mission to free Dimitri Belikov from his transformation into a Strigoi, and the situation grows more urgent when it becomes clear that Dimitri, having survived against all odds, may now be hunting her in turn. Caught between unresolved feelings for Dimitri and a growing closeness with Adrian Ivashkov, Rose searches for any way to restore Dimitri to his human self rather than accept that he is lost, a hope that pulls her toward dangerous, unsanctioned missions even as she is meant to be focused on her final exams and her bond with Lissa.
