Synopsis
An assassin moves in the space between life and oblivion, and no one in the County knows who this figure is or what they want. At the same time, the people of the County fear a force of monstrous enemies who are planning a devastating war and who are said to be backed by divine power. The County's spooks, still recovering from earlier losses, must work out how to meet a threat that looks beyond their strength. Tom, Jenny and their allies search for answers about the assassin's identity and purpose. The central question is whether this shadowy figure is another enemy, or the hero the County needs.
