Synopsis
Maurice, a streetwise talking cat, runs a well-practiced con with a clan of intelligent rats and a boy named Keith: the rats pose as a plague of vermin in a town, and Keith, posing as a piper, is paid to lead them away. The scheme has worked in town after town, but when the group arrives in Bad Blintz expecting an easy payday, they find the town's rat problem is real, its food supplies mysteriously vanishing, and two menacing professional rat-catchers already installed by the local council. As Dangerous Beans, Darktan and the other rats investigate the tunnels beneath the town alongside the mayor's fairy-tale-obsessed daughter Malicia, they begin uncovering evidence of a much darker operation than any confidence trick, forcing Maurice, Keith and the rats to decide how far their loyalty to one another extends when the con stops being a game.
