Synopsis
The third book in Brent Weeks' Lightbringer series finds the Prism, Gavin Guile, missing, leaving his son Kip vulnerable to his grandfather Andross Guile's political machinations, as Andross seeks to consolidate power in Gavin's absence. Alongside allies Teia and Karris, Kip must navigate treacherous terrain involving warring noble houses, competing religious factions, rebel forces still active from the previous conflicts, and a dangerous order of hidden assassins operating beneath the Chromeria's notice. With Gavin's whereabouts unknown, Kip is forced to grow into responsibilities he is not fully prepared for, relying on Teia's and Karris's support as Andross's scheming threatens to reshape the Chromeria's leadership before Gavin can be found.
