Synopsis

The Dark Secret is the fourth book in the Wings of Fire series, following Starflight, the studious NightWing among the five dragonets of destiny. After being separated from his friends and captured, Starflight is taken to the hidden, secretive homeland of the NightWing tribe, a place he has spent his whole life wondering about but never seen. There he finally meets members of his own kind for the first time, only to discover that the NightWings' guarded reputation conceals troubling truths about how the tribe actually lives and why it hides itself so completely from the rest of Pyrrhia. Alongside fellow captives from the RainWings, Starflight must navigate the NightWings' suspicion of outsiders and their rigid secrecy while searching for a way to escape and rejoin his friends, all while grappling with his complicated feelings about a heritage that is nothing like what he imagined.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
