Overview

On the war-torn continent of Pyrrhia, five young dragons of different tribes, raised in hiding and prophesied to end a generations-long war, must decide whether to fulfill the role chosen for them. Every book is narrated entirely from a dragon's point of view, and the series has grown across multiple five-book arcs following different generations of dragonets. Tui T. Sutherland's Wings of Fire began with The Dragonet Prophecy (2012) and its first arc concluded with The Brightest Night (2014), establishing a structure the series has repeated across several further five-book arcs following new casts of young dragons in later eras of the same world. Aimed primarily at middle-grade readers, the series built a large and dedicated fanbase for its politically complex dragon societies, each tribe possessing distinct powers and cultures, and has been adapted into an ongoing graphic novel line alongside the prose originals.
