Synopsis

The Lost Heir is the second book in Tui T. Sutherland's Wings of Fire series, told from the perspective of Tsunami, one of the five dragonets of destiny introduced in the first book. Having escaped the secretive Talons of Peace, Tsunami journeys to the underwater kingdom of the SeaWings, hoping finally to meet the subjects she was told she would one day rule and to reunite with her mother, Queen Coral, from whom she was separated as an egg. Her long-awaited homecoming proves far more complicated than she expected, as court politics, old grudges, and unfamiliar customs make her welcome uncertain even among her own kind. Matters grow more dangerous when a mysterious assassin begins targeting the queen's remaining heirs, forcing Tsunami to confront threats from within the SeaWing kingdom itself even as she tries to find her place among a family and culture she barely knows.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
