Synopsis
Commander Samuel Vimes of the Ankh-Morpork City Watch is sent to the remote region of Überwald as an ambassador for the coronation of the new Low King of the Dwarves, with an official brief to negotiate imports of dwarvish fat. While he is away, the Watch back home investigates the theft of a replica of the sacred Scone of Stone and the murder of an inventor, even as Vimes discovers that the genuine Scone has also been stolen in Überwald, part of a scheme by a faction of werewolves seeking to provoke civil war between traditionalist and reform-minded dwarves. First published in 1999, The Fifth Elephant belongs to the Discworld series.
