Synopsis
Mastersmith Elof Valantor pursues his love, Kara, to an unknown land where he is faced with the greatest challenge of his life. The third volume of The Winter of the World, which completed Michael Scott Rohan's original trilogy, takes its title from the Hammer of the Sun, a device employed against the Ice that The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction describes as, in essence, a tactical nuclear weapon. Published by Macdonald in 1988; the series was continued a decade later by three further novels from Orbit.
