Synopsis

This installment picks up from the tense cliffhanger left by the previous two books, with the fate of the mysterious armored dwarf warrior left uncertain after events described as a tragic final moment in the resistance's campaign. Survivors of the long struggle against Albae rule in Girdlegard must begin the difficult work of rebuilding their communities and deciding what comes next for their scattered peoples. Amid this uncertainty, the shifting political landscape forces dwarves, humans, and other survivors to reassess their alliances and their goals now that the occupying order has been shaken. The book follows these characters as they try to determine a path forward for Girdlegard in the wake of the resistance's costly campaign.
