Synopsis
Continuing directly from the future timeline established in the previous book, the mysterious armored dwarf warrior leads campaigns against the occupying Albae forces that have ruled Girdlegard for two and a half centuries. The descendants of Tungdil's original companions join the growing resistance, bringing their own inherited stakes in the conflict to the fight against the empire. Throughout the campaign, deep uncertainty persists over whether this warrior truly is the returned hero of legend or an impostor claiming his identity and his weapon for other purposes, a question that shapes how both allies and enemies respond to him. As the resistance gains momentum, older magical threats connected to Girdlegard's long history begin to reemerge alongside the immediate struggle against Albae rule.

- From the series record (The Dwarves): A bestselling German epic fantasy sequence following the dwarf warrior Tungdil Boldhammer defending the land of Girdlegard against dark elves and other threats. First published in German as Die Zwerge (2003, Piper Verlag); the first five volumes and the double-volume Return of the Dwarves have been published in English translation, most recently in 2021. Two further German-original volumes (Das Herz der Zwerge, 2022) have not yet appeared in English; the series remains ongoing.
