Synopsis
Ten years ago an interdimensional invasion shattered the world, and with it Adaline's happy marriage and the job she loved; it also woke dormant Talents in some people, the means to repel and destroy the invaders. Every day new gates open onto breaches full of monsters and of valuable resources, and Ada, a Talent, now works for the government, going into the breaches for the magic metals and medicines Earth needs to fight on. Two kids, a cat, bills, a mortgage and school tuition: risking her life has become routine, and she has always been well protected. This time everything goes wrong, and Ada is trapped in a labyrinth of alien caves unlike any other, with only a frightened German shepherd named Bear for company. Together they must uncover the breach's secrets and get out, because Ada promised her children she would come home.
