Synopsis
The Last of the Sky Pirates opens the third saga of the Edge Chronicles, centered on Rook Barkwater, an under-librarian living in the tunnels beneath Undertown. Rook is unexpectedly elevated to the rank of librarian knight and sent, alongside fellow knights Magda and Stob, into the Deepwoods on a treatise-voyage in search of a cure for stone-sickness, an affliction that has grounded the buoyant rocks vital to sky travel. During the expedition Rook encounters banderbears and crosses paths again with an aged Twig, a figure from earlier in the series. Unknown to Rook, one of his own companions is secretly passing information to the tyrannical Guardians of Night, whose opposition threatens to turn the search for a cure into a far more dangerous confrontation.
