Synopsis
Vox continues the Rook Barkwater saga of the Edge Chronicles. With the once-tyrannical Vox Verlix reduced to a powerless captive in his own Palace of Statues, Undertown has fractured into rival factions, including the Guardians of Night, Shrykes and goblins, all fighting to seize control of what he built. When librarian knight Rook Barkwater crash-lands in the lawless wasteland of Screetown, he narrowly escapes marauding goblins only to be drawn into Vox's schemes inside the Palace of Statues, where Vox reveals that a catastrophic dark maelstrom is only days from striking Undertown. Vox offers the librarians a plan to evacuate the city through its sewers and ambush the factions above in exchange for his own survival, setting several competing groups on a collision course as the disaster approaches.
