Synopsis
The Library of the Dead, published by T.L. Huchu in 2021, opens the Edinburgh Nights series in a dystopian, alternate version of Edinburgh where the veil between the living and the dead has worn dangerously thin. Fourteen-year-old Ropa is a ghost talker, someone able to perceive and communicate with spirits, who performs informal exorcisms and message deliveries for paying clients to help support her struggling family. When a ghost approaches Ropa asking for help finding her missing son, Ropa's investigation into the boy's disappearance leads her toward the mysterious, semi-legendary Library of the Dead and uncovers signs of a wider conspiracy involving other missing children across the city, forcing Ropa to take on a case far larger and more dangerous than her usual small jobs.
