Synopsis

Our Lady of Mysterious Ailments, published by T.L. Huchu in 2022, continues Edinburgh Nights after The Library of the Dead. Ropa Moyo, a teenage ghosttalker from Edinburgh's slums, has fallen on hard financial times after her informal spirit-messaging business collapsed while she was busy investigating a missing child, and she now badly needs steady income. Just as she prepares for a promising apprenticeship interview with Sir Callander at the Society of Sceptical Enquirers, her healer friend Priya calls with an urgent job: a teenage patient named Max Wu lies in an unexplained coma at a private magical hospital, baffling doctors and magical practitioners alike. Torn between the security of formal training and the money the case could bring, Ropa takes on the investigation, which soon points toward the return of a long-dormant and dangerous supernatural threat tied to an exclusive boys' school.
