Synopsis

The Mystery at Dunvegan Castle, published by T.L. Huchu in 2023, continues Edinburgh Nights. The Society of Skeptical Inquirers, Scotland's official body for magical professionals, holds its annual conference at Dunvegan Castle on the Isle of Skye, drawing rival schools, clans, and factions together under one roof for the occasion. The Grand Debtera of Ethiopia arrives as guest of honor to loan a valuable magical scroll meant to strengthen ties between Scottish and Ethiopian magical traditions, but disaster strikes almost immediately: the scroll is stolen, a librarian is murdered, and the Society's own head seals an impenetrable magical barrier around the castle to keep the culprit from escaping. Ropa Moyo, a fifteen-year-old unpaid intern at the conference, is tasked with solving the theft and murder from among the trapped attendees while her boss maintains the barrier around them all.
