Synopsis

Edward "Eddie" Drood has spent years as a field agent for the Droods, a secretive family that has protected humanity from supernatural threats for centuries from behind the scenes, using golden battle armor called a torc. Summoned home from an assignment, Eddie is abruptly declared rogue by the family's ruling Matriarch and marked for death without being told why. Forced to flee the only life and family he has known, he must turn to old enemies, criminals, and outcasts he once fought in order to survive and uncover who set him up. As he digs into the conspiracy, Eddie is drawn into a much larger secret history of hidden powers operating beneath the ordinary world, one that implicates the very family he thought he could trust.

Notes

  • From the series record (Secret Histories): Follows the Drood family of secret agent-sorcerers; a separate urban-fantasy sequence from this same author's already-admitted Nightside series, with its own cast and premise (occasional cross-references between the two exist but neither series requires the other to be read).

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
