Synopsis
The third of the Histories of King Kelson novels (Ballantine hardcover, 1986) is set in 1125. Prince Conall Haldane kills his secret Deryni tutor, Tiercel de Claron, by shoving him down a staircase and hides the body in Rhemuth castle. When King Kelson's quest for relics of Saint Camber ends in a river accident that is presumed fatal, Conall seizes power as Prince Regent after incapacitating his uncle Nigel. Kelson survives, returns to expose Conall's treason, and defeats him in a Duel Arcane. Conall's treason is exposed only after Kelson returns from the quest and confronts him.
