Synopsis

Many years after the events of The White Hart, most of Isle is ruled by Sacred Kings whose religion brings suffering and death. Hal and Alan, two young men, become blood brothers in the Forest and are joined by a strange bond. Hal's only weapon is an unearthly wisdom. With Ket the Red, the leader of a band of outlaws, they set out to overthrow a tyrannical king, turn back a tide of evil and restore a king descended from Bevan. Their quest is meant to fulfil a prophecy from the Book of Suns, the same legendary book first mentioned in the opening volume of the series.
