Synopsis
Magnus Chase is a homeless sixteen-year-old orphan living on the streets of Boston, still grieving his mother's death two years earlier, when his estranged uncle Randolph tracks him down with an urgent warning. Randolph reveals that Magnus is the son of a Norse god, a truth that makes him a target the moment he retrieves a mysterious sword tied to his lost father. That discovery triggers a violent confrontation with a fire giant on a Boston bridge, one Magnus cannot walk away from unscathed. What follows carries him to Hotel Valhalla, a realm where warriors chosen by the Norse gods train and await the final battle of Ragnarok, forcing him to quickly come to terms with a heritage he never knew he had, and with allies, enemies, and responsibilities far beyond anything his old life on the streets prepared him for.
