Synopsis
In the concluding volume of the Empire of the Wolf trilogy, Konrad Vonvalt and his apprentice Helena Sedanka work to prevent the collapse of the fantasy Sovan Empire as the threats set in motion earlier in the series come to a head. With the conspiracy uncovered in the previous book now threatening to tear the empire apart from within, Vonvalt, weakened by the toll his magic and his enemies have taken on him, and Helena, increasingly forced to take on responsibilities beyond her training, must contend with civil unrest, rival claimants to power, and the unraveling of the legal order Vonvalt has spent his career upholding, all while trying to hold the empire together.

Notes
- From the series record (Empire of the Wolf): A completed trilogy following an Emperor's Justice -- a travelling magistrate-and-executioner of a sprawling, crumbling empire -- and his clerk, as imperial law collides with rebellion, religious zealotry, and the empire's own internal rot.

- Internal chronology, within Empire of the Wolf: position 4 of 4: previous The Tyranny of Faith (2023)
