Synopsis

The Water Between the Worlds, published by Hagar Yanai in 2008, continues the Leviathan of Babylon trilogy, following Jonathan and Ella Margolis deeper into the alternate mythological reality first opened to them in the earlier book. Having crossed once into the Empire of Babylon and its world of physician-priests and old gods, the siblings find themselves drawn back across the boundary between their own world and this other one, a passage that proves to carry consequences neither of them fully anticipated the first time. As the empire's priesthood continues to guard against the stirring of the Leviathan, Jonathan and Ella must navigate a mythological landscape that grows stranger and more dangerous the further they travel from anything familiar, their own fates increasingly entangled with the fate of the realm they have twice now entered uninvited.
