Synopsis
Time of the Twins opens the Dragonlance Legends trilogy, centering on the warrior Caramon Majere, his twin brother, the increasingly dark mage Raistlin, and the cleric Crysania, who serves the god Paladine. After a meeting with the historian Astinus, Raistlin invites Crysania to the Tower of High Sorcery at Palanthas, where the group discovers his plan to travel back through time in order to gain power and challenge the ruling god of evil directly. Determined to stop him, Caramon, Crysania, and the ever-curious kender Tasslehoff Burrfoot resolve to follow Raistlin into the past, arriving in the holy empire of Istar before the Cataclysm that later destroys it. Once there, Caramon is forced into gladiatorial combat to rebuild his strength after years of decline, while Crysania takes up residence in the city's temple, setting the stage for a confrontation between the brothers over Raistlin's ambitions.
