Synopsis
Virion is the most famous swordsman of the Empire, an inspired fighter who, with twenty other doomed men, defeated a whole legion of Moy, about a thousand seasoned veterans. The book asks how a boy from a good family became a merciless killing machine. A murder, imprisonment and an escape from a pack of bounty hunters may not fully explain it, and perhaps someone higher up had planned from the start that his destiny would be the sword and heaps of corpses. It returns readers to the world of Achaja, telling the early life of the man who once duelled the empress.
