Synopsis
Thirteen-year-old Tiffany Aching, now apprenticed to the ancient and blind witch Miss Treason, sneaks into a secret ritual dance meant to usher in winter and, in the confusion, ends up dancing the part meant for the Summer Lady. The mistake catches the attention of the Wintersmith, the elemental being who personifies winter itself, who becomes fascinated with Tiffany and begins courting her with increasingly strange and dangerous gifts, from unusual snowflakes to icebergs shaped like her face. As the Wintersmith's attentions intensify and threaten to trap the land in an unnaturally prolonged winter, Tiffany realizes she has unwittingly absorbed some of the Summer Lady's own powers, and must work out how to undo what happened at the dance, with the wary guidance of senior witches Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg and the help of her ever-loyal Nac Mac Feegle friends.
