Overview
Dark Swan is Richelle Mead's four-book urban fantasy sequence following Eugenie Markham, a professional shaman and monster hunter who is drawn into the political intrigues of the fae Otherworld after discovering her own royal fae parentage, alongside her shapeshifting ally Kiyo and the fae king Dorian. The four novels appeared in close succession: Storm Born (2008), Thorn Queen (2009), Iron Crowned (2011), and Shadow Heir (2011). Storm Born was a nominee for the Reviewers' Choice Award for Best Urban Fantasy Novel on its release, and the sequence helped establish Mead, already prolific in young-adult vampire fiction, as an urban-fantasy author for adult readers; she has since suggested a fifth book remains possible at some future point, though none has yet appeared.
