Overview
Dragonrealm is the fantasy world of Richard A. Knaak, begun with Firedrake in 1989. It is a land once ruled by shape-shifting Dragon Kings, where the wizard Cabe Bedlam, his family and the shadowy Darkhorse become the main figures. The central sequence runs from Firedrake to The Horse King (1997), followed by Shade (2012) and the Cabe Bedlam novels Knights of the Frost (2018) and Sword of Ghosts (2021). Two prequel trilogies cover the Vraad's arrival in a new world (Origin of Dragonrealm, 1991 to 1992) and the mages' rebellion against the Dragon Kings (the Turning War, 2013 to 2015). Knaak is still adding to the setting.
