Overview
Fonda Lee's Green Bone Saga is a secondary-world crime epic: rival jade-warrior clans in the island nation of Kekon, whose magical jade grants supernatural abilities but exacts a physical toll, fight a generations-spanning war of politics, honour, and family as their traditional way of life collides with modernization and foreign interests. Launched with Jade City (2017), the trilogy concluded with Jade Legacy (2021); the author and NPR both frame it explicitly as a story "about endings." Surfaced by cross-referencing World Fantasy Award Best Novel winners not yet in this canon.
