Overview

The Neschan-Trilogie is a German fantasy trilogy by Ralf Isau, published by Thienemann in 1995 and 1996. Jonathan Jabbok, a thirteen-year-old in a wheelchair, dreams night after night that he is Yonathan, a boy on the world Neschan who must carry the staff Haschevet to the Garden of Wisdom so the seventh judge can take office. The tyrant Bar-Hazzat opposes him. Neschan has no seconds and counts time in heartbeats and breaths, with an ancient-style calendar. The author says he began writing the story in 1988. The three books form one continuous story.
