Overview
James Stoddard's Evenmere Chronicles began with The High House (1998) and continued with The False House (1999) and Evenmere (2015). They are set in Evenmere, an enormous, ever-changing house that contains many worlds and whose clocks and lamps keep creation running. Carter Anderson, son of the house's Master, is exiled as a boy, returns to take up the Master's role and then has to defend the house against the Society of Anarchists, who want to replace it with a world of their own making. The three novels follow Carter and his companions in order. The author has described the third book as completing the story.
