Overview
C. L. Polk's The Kingston Cycle (2018–2020) is a complete gaslamp-fantasy trilogy set in a post-war, Edwardian-inspired secondary world, Aeland, still recovering from a conflict modeled on the First World War. It weaves a feminist, political narrative about the uprising of a magically repressed underclass together with a distinct queer romance and murder mystery in each volume. Witchmark, the opening novel, won the 2019 World Fantasy Award for Best Novel.
