Overview
Théâtre Illuminata is a young adult fantasy trilogy by American author Lisa Mantchev, published by Feiwel & Friends from 2009 to 2011. It is set in a theatre where the characters of every play ever written live behind the curtain, bound to the building by The Book, a magical collection of all the scripts. The heroine, Beatrice Shakespeare Smith, known as Bertie, is not a character in any play but has grown up among them. Her closest companions are Ariel, the air spirit from The Tempest, a pirate named Nate, and four fairies from A Midsummer Night's Dream. Eyes Like Stars, Perchance to Dream and So Silver Bright follow Bertie's story in order, and the third book completes the trilogy.
