Overview
Thistlefoot is a standalone contemporary fantasy novel by GennaRose Nethercott (2022, Anchor/Vintage), weaving Jewish and Slavic folklore into a modern American road story. Estranged siblings Bellatine and Isaac Yaga inherit an impossible inheritance: Thistlefoot, a sentient house that walks on two clawed chicken legs -- a living relic of their family's Eastern European past and a descendant of the legendary izbushka of Baba Yaga. As the siblings take Thistlefoot on the road, they are pursued by a shape-shifting entity called the Longshadow Man, whose hunger is bound to a generations-old trauma the family has never confronted. A 2023 Mythopoeic Award for Adult Literature finalist.
